Students
The Youth ministry at First Baptist Church-North Kansas City exists to REACH students, CONNECT them with other Christians, help them GROW in their faith, challenge them to find their MINISTRY and HONOR God with their lives.
Our purpose statement above clearly states what our Youth ministry is all about. We want to reach out to middle and high school students and point them to Jesus Christ. At FBC-NKC, we have a great staff of committed and caring adults that work with and serve the students.
Sunday Mornings @ 9:00 AM (Sanctuary)
This worship service features casual dress, a full band and praise team leading in praise and worship style music. Videos and interactive elements are used to enhance the worship experience.
Sunday Mornings @ 10:30 AM (Youth Room & Coffee House)
The middle school (guys and girls) meet in the Youth Room. The high school group (guys and girls) meet in the Coffee House. The teaching responsibilities are shared by volunteer teachers, with the Sunday morning program relying heavily on Biblical teaching and hot topics, with video illustrations.
Sunday Nights @ 6:00 PM (Youth Room, Coffee House, Homes)
D-groups are small groups of willing students split up by gender and age. The purpose of these groups is to develop discipleship relationships and support spiritual maturity/growth in students. D-groups are led by adults. Different activities may include:
- Bible study or planned curriculum
- Hanging out (eating, sports, watching TV or a movie, talking, etc.)
- Accountability and sharing times
- Prayer and prayer requests
Wednesday Night Youth Group @ 6:30 PM (Youth Room)
SWAP (Students With A Purpose)
The purposes of our Wednesday program are evangelism, outreach, and spiritual growth. How do we do this and still keep the kids' attention? Creative programming. From themed nights, to video series, to special guests, the activities are always changing. From games to prayer to music, SWAP is relevant and age appropriate. We have a youth band that plays every Wednesday night. Our Wednesday night messages, though, are the heartbeat of the night - they're usually topical in nature and with scriptures and Biblical stories to teach the students about God and His nature.
There is also a great student "hang-out" area in the Coffee House where students can play pool, watch videos, buy a cappuccino or snacks.
Support Youth?
We minister to a diverse population of students whose families have a variety of financial backgrounds. If you have a heart to help teenagers attend one of our camps or mission trips this year, please consider sponsoring a student. Support of $25, $50 or more will help scholarship students in need!
