Preschool/Children

Here at First Baptist we know preschoolers and elementary-age children are constantly growing. Active bodies need to move. Growing mental abilities need challenges. Children need interaction with both peers and adults. Spiritual growth occurs when children are engaged in Bible-learning activities, memorization, worship, prayer and learning to serve others. Through Kidz@First, our Children's Ministry for children Pre-K through 5th grade, we support children's growth in all these areas. Check out the many opportunities for your child!

Sunday Mornings @ 9:00 AM

Age-graded small groups for children Pre-K/Kindergarten through 4th grade meet at 9:00. Caring teachers engage the children in hands-on learning experiences centering on Biblical truths. The children will hear a Bible story, participate in Bible learning and life application activities and have the opportunity to express Bible concepts through art.

Sunday Mornings @ 10:30 AM

Pre-K and Kindergarten-age children have a snack in their classroom at 10:15 AM and remain there for Faithweaver Friends at 10:30 AM. During this session the children build on what they have already learned from the Bible story in the 9:00 hour through interactive crafts, games and activities.

Children 1st-4th grade participate in their own Kidz@First worship time together. During Kidz@Worship the Bible story the children heard the previous hour is reinforced through music, puppetry, drama, videos, games and life application activities geared to many different learning styles. Elements of worship such as praise, giving an offering, prayer and singing are present as well.

Fifth graders attend the 9:00 AM worship with their parents and have small group at 10:30 AM.

Summer Schedule: During a few weeks in the summer, mid-June to mid-August, children 1st-5th grade attend worship with their parents at 9:00 AM and have small groups at 10:30 AM.

Sunday Evenings (September-April)

5:30-6:15 PM  Bible Skills, Drills, and Thrills (Bible Drill for short) gives children Kindergarten through 5th grade an in depth exposure to the Bible. The children memorize specific verses and passages of the Bible and learn to locate verses quickly through practice drills. In March and April the children may participate in competitions at the church level (all children), the association level and state level (4th and 5th grade).

6:15-7:00 PM  Children's and Preschool Choirs meet. These choirs teach Biblical concepts right along with music skills. The choirs perform from time to time on Sunday mornings in the worship services.

Wednesday Evenings 6:30-7:30 PM

Mission Friends for preschool 4s and kindergartners is a fun time of learning about missions. Each month a different aspect of missions and a different missionary is featured in the stories and activities. The children use hands-on activities to explore different cultures, missionary lifestyles and ministries.

Meanwhile, the 1st-5th grade children are learning about missions through Royal Ambassadors (RAs) for the boys and Girls in Action (GAs) for the girls. Both of these organizations learn about specific missionaries, where they serve, the ministry they do and the people they serve. The children also learn how they, too, can be part of sharing the Gospel with others through group projects and personal action.

Children are important to our church because they are important to God. We make every effort to warmly welcome them to our church. We also take seriously the responsibility of caring for children by following security guidelines and checking backgrounds of all adults who work with minors.

We welcome parents to visit their child's class and to become involved with our ministry to children.
