Preschool/Children

Here at First Baptist we know preschoolers and elementary-age children are constantly growing. Active bodies need to move. Growing mental abilities need challenges. Children need interaction with both peers and adults. Spiritual growth occurs when children are engaged in Bible-learning activities, memorization, worship, prayer and learning to serve others. Through Kidz@First, our Children's Ministry for children Pre-K through 5th grade, we support children's growth in all these areas. Check out the many opportunities for your child!

Sunday Mornings @ 9:30 AM

Small Groups for Children

Preschoolers meet from 9:30-10:45 in their classroom. Each week the teacher presents a Bible story which is reinforced with music, games and activities all related to the Bible lesson. As a class the preschoolers attend a segment of the adult worship service. The children also have some free choice play time.

Children Kindergarten-5th grade meet in grade level small groups. Currently the children are studying the Bible chronologically to learn how the whole Bible points to Jesus as our Savior. This study includes a short video segment, Bible learning activities that help reinforce the lesson and contemporary music.

Both groups enjoy a snack during the morning. Please alert teachers to any food allergies your child may have.

Worship

Children in 4th and 5th grade attend worship with their parents.

Children in K-3rd grade may choose to attend worship with their parents or attend Worship4Kidz, our children's worship time.

Worship4Kidz continues the Bible learning with the same Bible story, enhanced with learning games, demonstrations and a mission story. On alternate weeks the children participate in craft time or sing with a praise and worship team.

Sunday Evenings

Fall and Spring Discipleship Series classes give children opportunities to deepen their understanding of the Bible and it's message for living. These series are 5-6 weeks in duration and coincide with the adult discipleship series. Dates and topics are announced in the bulletin and on the website.

Wednesday Evenings

6:00-6:30
Bible Skills for 1st-5th graders. In Bible Skills the children learn the books of the Bible in order and how to use the Bible to find verses and passages important in our faith. They also memorize verses using a variety of activites to make learning easier.

6:30-7:30
Mission Friends for preschool 4s and kindergartners is a fun time of learning about missions. Each month a different aspect of missions and a different missionary is featured in the stories and activities. The children use hands-on activities to explore different cultures, missionary lifestyles and ministries.

Meanwhile, the 1st-5th grade children are learning about missions through Royal Ambassadors (RAs) for the boys and Girls in Action (GAs) for the girls. Both of these organizations learn about specific missionaries, where they serve, the ministry they do and the people they serve. The children also learn how they, too, can be part of sharing the Gospel with others through group projects and personal action.

Children are important to our church because they are important to God. We make every effort to warmly welcome them to our church. We also take seriously the responsibility of caring for children by following security guidelines and checking backgrounds of all adults who work with minors.

We welcome parents to visit their child's class and to become involved with our ministry to children.
