Tiger Pennington, Senior Pastor
Tiger truly enjoys every aspect of communicating the amazing good news about the person of Jesus. He enthusiastically invites people into the experiential world of Jesus, to meet Jesus for the first time or to meet the “Jesus I never knew.” Tiger believes grasping how much Jesus loves and accepts us allows every precious human being to discover their worth in His eyes and through His sacrifice.
Tiger and his wife Cynthia are approaching their 30th wedding anniversary. They have two children, daughter Kristi and son T.J. Kristi is married to Fadil Rexhepi and enjoys her journey to be a registered nurse and the essential role of being “Mom,” to her two step-children. T.J. is in high school, is an avid golfer and the resident household technology and computer expert. Cynthia is an NICU nurse, a personal wellness coach and a lover of horses.
Sara Gordon, Associate Pastor-Children
After 9 years of teaching Kindergarten and 2 years at home, God began speaking to Sara's heart about the vision He had for her and how He planned to use her training and experiences in working with children and families here at FBC. For Sara, FBC has been home for her family through 4 generations! She and her husband have two small children of their own, so she is always aware of the impact that our Children's Ministry has on the heart of a child, and the daily walk of his or her family. Sara believes in making every second count with children by intentionally laying a spiritual foundation that will allow children to easily accept Jesus Christ savior. Weekly programming provides a balance between high energy activities to elicit curiosity, praise opportunities, purposeful moments of worship and small group settings where real relationships with Christian mentors and church family can begin. Sara and her husband Alan have never met a stranger! They will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary this summer. Sara loves her full-time job as mommy, reading and cooking.

Kelli Scott White, Associate Pastor-Worship
Kelli leads the Sunday contemporary service at 10:45 AM and the youth worship team, Thrive Worship Experience during Wednesday student services. She and her husband, David, have celebrated 23 years of marriage and have a daughter, Brooklyn (20), son, Tyler (16) and daughter, Isabella (8) who is the grand finale! Kelli likes to laugh and have fun – there is always room for a party! She enjoys dark chocolate, movies, dancing and creating her home renovation ideas while watching HGTV. She has a terrible sweet tooth and will try just about anything containing lemon, pumpkin or peanut butter, which is great (or maybe not so great), because her husband is a fantastic baker and cook.
Kelli grew up at FBCNKC and made the decision to follow Jesus at the age of 9. After her daughter was born, however, she had a deeper understanding of God’s love. Having studied business and music in college and working in many areas of business, God began calling Kelli in 2001 to use her musical gifts somehow in ministry. It was during this time her faith became more than a Sunday morning experience. After a variety of personal and professional challenges, including 4 months of homelessness, in 2012, she fell radically and deeply in love with Jesus. It was during this time that God began persistently tugging on and opening her heart to the idea of full time ministry. Kelli struggled for quite a while, feeling unqualified but knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt that God was pursuing her. He called an unqualified person with a huge heart for Jesus and, after she surrendered to His call, He equipped her for ministry. Looking back, she can see how He was truly preparing her all along.
Kelli has a passion for broken people and a deep desire for them to encounter the love of Jesus. She has a love for and has worked with women caught in human trafficking, as well as people and families suffering from addiction, poverty and homelessness. She has a “fall on your face” worship style, because her greatest desire is for people to fall more in love with Jesus. To her, worship is not just about music or singing. It’s about being thankful for the cross and glorifying God above all else. She loves being part of FBCNKC, which is a community on mission and a place where grace is celebrated and lives are transformed.
Tom Wideman, Associate Pastor-Worship & Senior Adults
Tom Wideman began his ministry in music and worship here at FBCNKC back in 1980 when he served as Interim Minister of Music right after he graduated from William Jewell College. He and his wife, Sally, who grew up here, went on to serve in full-time ministry in 5 other churches over the next three decades before returning home. They have a daughter, Jolee who is married to Jared Miller and mother of Kaden and Kaiah; and a son Andrew, who is married to Dena and father of Brooklyn Rose. Tom leads the music and worship for the Classic worship service and supports the Senior Adult ministry. Tom’s vision for the music and worship ministry is to use music and the arts to glorify God, encourage believers and reach seekers.
