First Baptist Church, North Kansas City, is a community on mission where grace is celebrated and lives are transformed. Our journey of following Jesus brings us to a defining moment in our history. The choices we make will determine whether we remain as we are or cross over to the “promised land.” Hear the words of Joshua to the children of Israel as they were preparing to cross the Jordan River and enter the Promised Land, “Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” (Joshua 3:5, NIV)
Now are preparing ourselves for a season of unprecedented blessing through building bridges of mission and ministry from the heart of God to the hearts of people. Indeed, the Lord will do amazing things among us. Yet, like the children of Israel, we simultaneously see the “promised land” of mission and ministry, but also the need for a way to get there. Our church is launching a generosity initiative designed to be a bridge from where we are to where we are going.
The Lord is calling us to immerse ourselves in the refreshing waters of His generosity and urging us to reflect the image of the One who so loved that He gave. Along our journey, we will be challenged to seek and reflect the heart of God in our living and in our giving.
Our church originated from revival meetings held in the spring of 1916. The journey before us will connect the revival of our legacy to the renewal of mission and ministry in our future. God has always been a bridge builder and He is calling us to join Him in Building Bridges: Connecting our legacy to our future!
